Trust me, it's a thing. I bet you do it and don't even realize it.

Most writers don't just write. Most have day jobs, families, kids, and the all too dreaded responsibilities. That doesn't mean we don't always pine for those precious fragments of time in front of the typewriter, notepad, or laptop, right? Most of us have to carve out writing time whenever we can. We are writing guerrilla style and don't even know it.

Writing Guerrilla Style - Carving Out Time to Write

Are These Thoughts Familiar?

  • The baby's asleep, so crack open the laptop and get down some words.

  • The boss has a long afternoon meeting, so I should be able to get some writing done.

  • I'm running a fever and called off work. I bet I can cram in some writing while I'm recuperating, right?

  • I just dropped off the kids for soccer practice. I have an hour and a half of writing time!

  • Everybody's sleeping in, time to get up and pad the word count.

If any of those are remotely familiar, you're a guerrilla writer. Deftly weaving in and out of life's obstacles to create some desperately needed writing time becomes a task in and of itself. Putting down words a half hour here or an hour there throughout the course of the day or week is an interesting and difficult proposition.

But you do it.

Writing Guerrilla Style

You do it because you have to write. It's in your blood, and you've been swallowed by the writing bug. You need to get the words out, otherwise you'll go insane trying to contain it all.

No matter how much or how little, how often or how infrequently you write, the important thing is you don't stop.

Reread those last two words.

Don't

Stop

Write ON!
