About Me

I’ve always been a voracious reader. It never mattered what genre. Books were the only real magic in my life. They could immerse me in a world entirely different from the one around me. I fell in love with the Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew mysteries. I moved on to Peter Straub, Stephen King, Dean Koontz, Anne Rice, James Ellroy, Jeffrey Deaver, Judith Michaels, Nora Roberts, Danielle Steel, and Michael Connelly.

Reading quickly turned to writing when I was young. I started writing stories while still in elementary school, concocting a story about a mad axe man lurking in the woods near the school. He was chopping up students, wrapping their body parts in butcher paper, and stacking them in the corner of a rundown shack. Most students had to walk through the woods to get to school. It created a panic and taught me that I could impact people through my writing. My third-grade teacher, Miss Cummings, was not impressed. She had a parent-teacher conference with my mom and said I was disturbed and needed help.

I'll never forget that day. My mom stood up and told Miss Cummings that I was a very imaginative kid and just expressing myself. She grabbed me by the hand and took me home. She dragged out the old Royal manual typewriter and told me to write my little heart out.

And I've been clicking and clacking ever since, although I use a laptop now, so maybe I’m not exactly clicking and clacking, lol.
